FAQ
ABOUT OTF FACTORY & B2B PARTNERSHIPS
Q1: Is OTF Factory a direct manufacturer or a trading company?
A: We are a direct OEM/ODM manufacturer. With manufacturing roots in Yangjiang, China dating back to 2005, we operate our own advanced production facility equipped with multi-axis CNC machines and in-house assembly lines. When you partner with us, you are communicating directly with the source factory, ensuring efficient communication, competitive pricing, and direct control over your manufacturing process.
Q2: Do you sell knives directly to individual consumers?
A: No, we are strictly a B2B (Business-to-Business) manufacturer. Our production capacity is dedicated to serving international tactical gear brands, wholesale distributors, importers, and custom knife designers. We do not operate a retail business.
Q3: What is your Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?
A: Our MOQ is designed to be flexible to support your business growth:
For Custom OEM/ODM Designs: Generally 300 to 500 pieces per model, depending on the complexity of the CNC machining and the materials required.
For White-Label / Existing Catalog Models: We offer smaller batch wholesales (e.g., 50–100 pieces) to help you test your local market quickly. Please contact our sales team for the exact MOQ of specific models.
OEM / ODM CUSTOMIZATION SERVICES
Q4: Can OTF Factory manufacture a knife based on my own design?
A: Absolutely. Product development and custom manufacturing (OEM/ODM) are our core strengths. You can provide us with 3D CAD files (STEP/IGES), 2D technical drawings, or conceptual sketches. Our in-house R&D engineering team will evaluate the mechanics, optimize the internal structure for mass production, and provide a comprehensive manufacturing solution.
Q5: What customization options do you offer for knives?
A: We provide a one-stop customization service, including but not limited to:
Blade Steels: From reliable standard steels (D2, 8Cr14MoV, 154CM) to premium options (M390, S35VN, Damascus).
Handle Materials: Aviation-grade Aluminum (6061/7075), Titanium alloys, Carbon Fiber, and G10.
Surface Treatments: Hard Anodizing, Stonewash, Satin finish, and PVD coatings.
Branding & Packaging: Custom laser engraving for your logos and fully customized, retail-ready packaging boxes and manuals.
Q6: Can I get a working prototype before committing to a bulk order?
A: Yes. For custom OEM projects, we always produce a functional Pre-Production Prototype for your approval before mass production begins. This ensures that the design, materials, and mechanics meet your strict requirements. The custom prototyping fee is typically credited toward your final bulk order.
MANUFACTURING PRECISION & LEAD TIMES
Q7: Automatic and folding knives require high precision. How does OTF Factory ensure quality?
A: We understand that complex mechanical knives demand tight machining tolerances. At OTF Factory, we utilize dozens of multi-axis CNC machining centers to mill the chassis and internal tracks with exceptional precision. During assembly, our experienced technicians hand-tune the springs and internal mechanisms. Finally, every single knife undergoes strict QC inspections, including rapid-fire mechanical stress tests, to ensure a snappy, responsive, and consistent deployment before packaging.
Q8: What is your standard production lead time?
A:Existing Model Samples: 5–10 days.
Custom Prototypes: 15–25 days (depending on custom tooling and material sourcing).
Mass Production: Typically 35–45 days after prototype approval and deposit confirmation. Lead times may vary slightly during peak manufacturing seasons or for orders requiring complex titanium milling.
GLOBAL SHIPPING & LOGISTICS
Q9: Knives can be restricted items in some regions. How do you handle international shipping?
A: With nearly two decades of export experience, we have successfully shipped to over 40 countries worldwide. We partner with specialized freight forwarders who are experts in handling the customs clearance of knives and tactical gear. We offer flexible trade terms, including EXW, FOB (Shenzhen/Guangzhou), and DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) via air or ocean freight. Our logistics team will help you map out the safest and most cost-effective shipping route for your specific region.
